About

What does “Living Peace” mean? I thought I might explain how this works in my life.
On this blustery December day I am feeling a cold trying to take hold of me by the throat. This is day two of this feeling and I’m not sure if the hot tea and honey or ginger brandy or five doses of echinacea I took yesterday are going to chase this pending imbalance from my body. I can’t get sick right now…too many responsibilities. Like taking care of my lovely new granddaughter Avalyn. And teaching yoga and performing with Blue Tattoo. The wind whips through the trees like my racing fear and anxiety.
I have a deeper sense that sits quietly in the background, listening and caring about the concerns of this human..being human. This deep quiet aspect of self is like the hard and yielding earth the trees are supported by. As the wind flies about in and around the branches, the trunks sway and bend yet the earth holds deep and strong. The earth is ever present under foot, supporting each step, listening and caring.
Living peace is a practice I choose each day to be aware and appreciative of not just the earth under my feet but of the source of light and love which sustains my body and spirit every moment. I draw from this source the energy to restore balance in my body. By listening deeply to my body I know I am needing a respite from the worries I carry. My throat is saying slow down, observe and then let go of the small cares. Like the trees letting brightly colored leaves fly with the wind. This practice requires a relaxing into the soft central core of being and then moving in and out from that place. Like the sap in a tree this core is ever present. Now as the sun comes out with bright warmth, I know that life moves ever forward and this cold, too will pass.
